My friend Barbara Marx Hubbard is a visionary author and catalyst whose Evolve.org site provides a Conscious Evolution curriculum based on her book of the same name. Barbara has worked tirelessly for peace and years ago offered her Peace Room concept to connect what was working across diciplines, cultures and age groups. That idea was the foundation of Congressman Dennis Kucinich’s Department of Peace bill which has recently morphed into a new initiative Barbara describes below.

We have recently returned from the Alliance for Sustainable Colorado’s Big Tent at the Democratic National Convention. “The Peace Room” has come alive again to identify, connect and communicate what is working in America. It is now called The Citizen Solutions Council and has been formed as a non-profit, transpartisan initiative to foster the renaissance of human creativity and to connect it with the governing process in support of the enhancement of democracy.  It is a special project of the Foundation for Conscious Evolution.

In Denver we were joined by Eleanor LeCain, who has worked on this idea for many years and is now the Executive Director of the project.  Also joining us were many friends from the Hummingbird Retreat on Evolutionary Leadership that I had given the weekend before the convention.  Michael Beckwith and the Agape Choir opened the Big Tent, and we closed it. The project has three initiatives:

1. The President’s Council on Solutions. The purpose here is to get the idea into the presidential campaigns and to establish this function in the Office of the Presidency. You may download the attached word doc or click here to read it online.

2. Citizen Solutions TV will be an ongoing Internet TV channel for citizen’s solutions.

3. Local Citizen Solutions Councils will be encouraged at the grass roots level to identify, connect and communicate what is working in their communities and then feed it upward into the President’s Council and the TV channel.
