His 1,516 videotaped mini-lectures — on topics ranging from simple addition to vector calculus and Napoleonic campaigns — are transforming the former hedge fund analyst into a YouTube sensation, reaping praise from even reluctant students across the world.

“I’m starting a virtual school for the world, teaching things the way I wanted to be taught,” explains Khan, 33, the exuberant founder and sole faculty member of the nonprofit Khan Academy, run out of his small ranch house, which he shares with his wife and infant son.

Khan has never studied and has no teaching credentials. His brief and low-tech videos, created in the corner of his bedroom, are made with a $200 Camtasia Recorder, $80 Wacom Bamboo Tablet and a free copy of SmoothDraw3 on a home PC. But every day, his lectures are viewed 70,000 times — double the entire student body of UC Berkeley. His viewers are diverse, ranging from rural preschoolers to Morgan Stanley analysts to Pakistani engineers. Since its inception in 2006, the Khan Academy website has recorded more than 16 million page views.

QyantumThink fonder Dianne Collins and her husband and master coach, Alan Collins will deliver a new course that will include chapters from her forthcoming book.

“The sage must distinguish between knowledge and wisdom.”

-Mundaka Upanishad

“To live in wisdom means you are aware and responsive to the multi-dimensions of life. To live in wisdom you need knowledge of universal principles and how these principles work together. To live in wisdom means you use this knowledge as a way of life. To live in wisdom means to live in an awakened state beyond mechanical conditioning, in a state of clarity that enables you to connect deeply. To live in wisdom is to be the wisdom. Wisdom is only alive when it’s alive in you.”

Excerpted from:
Do You QuantumThink? New Thinking That Will Rock Your World by Dianne Collins, Chapter 5 Wisdom: Knowing it and living it are worlds apart

A vital aspect of living the wisdom is to dance with the callings of your soul that we call “destiny.” Destiny isn’t a prediction; destiny is a predilection. Just because the tendencies are there, the passion and yearnings are there – doesn’t guarantee their fulfillment. We have to attune ourselves, listen to the promptings, and take definitive action. This kind of passion is not just a fleeting flash of desire. We are speaking about passion that consistently calls to you even when you try to ignore it. Like a “higher Self” that speaks to you and only you.

So you want to make a movie…

I remember attending a filmmaking seminar a few years back offered by the Miami Film Festival. A panel of filmmakers told their stories of how they raised the money to make their film. A montage of aspiring filmmakers filled the audience, listening intently for tips on how to get their films made. What I noticed and always found significant is that each filmmaker got their production money in a completely different way than any of the others. One gentleman was invited to a party, started telling the premise of his film and got the millions needed committed to him in a 10-second cocktail conversation. Another woman asked forty of her friends and family for a thousand dollars each and made her low budget film with the $40 thousand she raised. Still another auteur took years of going through an arduous venture capital process to finally raise the $10 million he needed to proceed with production. Clearly, no two ways of doing it were alike.

The moral of this story is this: you cannot duplicate someone else’s destiny. Call it karma or kismet or whatever you like; the fact is each of us is here to follow whatever our unique way is of doing what we are here to do. To discover what is takes to make “our movie” and follow the cues could be life’s greatest personal fulfillment.

You can understand why we are so excited about our new Mastery Intensive teleconference program, and why we continue to invite you.

It is a structure for discovering our passion, for connecting to our intent, and for creating the lifestyle that syncs with it, by becoming adept at QuantumThinking.

If you missed our earlier emails, click link for details and schedule: http://www.quantumthink.com/goto/MASTERY_INTENSIVE

QuantumThink Mastery Intensive – Passion Accomplished, QuantumThink Applied
Teleconference series – Begins May 17th

You can only follow your passion if you are listening.
You can only listen if your mind is clear.
You can only hear when your mind is silent.

How do you get your mind to the state of quietude when the automatic nature of the mind is to chatter away with itself, the incessant internal dialogue that conjures up judgments, images and conclusions that take you on emotional trips.

How do you distinguish between the promptings of the higher Self-intelligence of the heart and the chatter of the “small” self?

This is an important part what we’ll be doing for the 11 weeks of our QuantumThink Mastery Intensive – “Passion Accomplished, QuantumThink Applied.” We invite you to come and make your “movie.” Make your move – get your passion into action.

Note to everyone: Even though we don’t “officially” start the QT Mastery Intensive until May 17th, participants are getting results already simply from reading the chapters.

QuantumThink Mastery Intensive: “Passion Accomplished, QuantumThink Applied”

Learn to QuantumThink with the Experts…because it’s time to think in a new way.

Master the key elements of QuantumThink.

Align your lifestyle and daily routine with your soul’s passion.

Starting May 17th on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-6:15pm Eastern Time through the end of July, QuantumThink creator-author, Dianne Collins and QuantumThink master coach, Alan Collins will take you on a mind excursion that promises to alter your life forever in beneficial ways that you cannot imagine from where you are thinking now. In these live interactive teleconference coaching dialogues you will apply QuantumThinking in real time to real-life situations. Participants will be among the first to preview 11 chapters from Dianne Collins’ forthcoming book, Do You QuantumThink: New Thinking That Will Rock Your World (SelectBooks, Inc. August, 2010).

You will also have access to the audio versions of 16 QuantumThink distinctions (principles) and Recreations (practices for the mind and awareness), as well as the QuantumThink 21 interactive website for creating and accomplishing your “intended quantum result.” This is truly QuantumThinking with a passion like we’ve never presented it before. If you realize it is time to master thinking in a new way (not just have some new or clever ideas) and you are up for an exciting, enjoyable group experience, this is for you.

From: The Integral Enlightenment Team

One of the most frequent questions we’re asked is, “What can I do to help accelerate the global shift in consciousness that is happening now?”

Recently, our friends at Integral Life released a video to their private membership of its founder and the world’s foremost integral philosopher, Ken Wilber, answering that very question.

You’re likely already familiar with Ken Wilber. But in case you’re not, he’s largely responsible for bringing what we now refer to as “integral philosophy” and “integral spirituality” into the world. It’s easy to say it’s one of the most important accomplishments of the past century.

In fact, President Bill Clinton considers him one of the most important thinkers of our time, and we’ve been influenced by and benefited from Ken’s work immensely. The truth is, few people have the kind of authority that Ken Wilber does when it comes to showing how we can take the next step for humanity.

In the video, he discusses the single most important thing he feels any individual concerned with our global welfare can do to help create an integral world.

Click here to watch the video.

Watching the video, you’ll realize how you–and everyone else involved in this emerging integral movement–are in a unique position to actually push the leading edge of consciousness forward… to help create a global transformation, the likes of which has happened literally only five or six times in history.

We hope you find it valuable, inspiring, and empowering. Listening to messages like Ken’s has never been more important and timely for this moment in our movement’s–and perhaps even humanity’s–history.

New paradigm education is critical to a sustainable future. John Taylor Gatto is a school reformer whose book Weapons of Mass Instruction, we recently reviewed. Home schooling is one answer to the challenge of teaching in a flawed system. Another is revolutionary teaching methods within schools. In the award-winning documentary Children Full of Life, a fourth-grade class in a primary school in Kanazawa, northwest of Tokyo, learn lessons about compassion from their homeroom teacher, Toshiro Kanamori. He instructs each to write their true inner feelings in a letter, and read it aloud in front of the class. By sharing their lives, the children begin to realize the importance of caring for their classmates. Expressing emotions is critical to releasing energy that can turn into depression or rage and this class is helping students do just that. A great working model. Bravo!

John Gatto taught for 30 years in New York City public schools before resigning from school teaching on the oped pages of the Wall Street Journal the same year he was named “Teacher of the Year”. Since then, he has been a tireless advocate for school reform traveling over 3 million miles to lecture on the subject. He has been an advisor and speaker to homescholing associations around the world. His previous book, Dumbing Us Down has sold over 150,000 copies to date.

John’s knowledge and writing about compulsory schooling is an eye opener and if you want the shocking and unvarnished truth about who, how and why education was structured in this country, you will find no better source.

Here is one instructive quote:

It is natural businessmen should seek to influence the enactment and administration of laws, national and international, and that they should try and control education. ~ Max Otto

Gatto goes on to show how and why students were and still are taught to memorize the dots rather than connecting them and how education was designed to separate the classes. It all began believe it or not in 1852 with the adoption of the Prussian model of education. Then just after the civil war, the country shifted from an entrepreneurial economy to a mass market economy and from freedom to industrial capitalism. Once in place, this new educational system took students and “confined them with hired mercenaries” which is what we have today, according to a very informed Gatto.

To contrast the two systems, he points to Ben Franklin whose biography he suggests is must reading. Frankin was the product of a brilliant and daring curriculum–his own. “He was an open source learner for the ages and he will generously show you how the trick is done”.

One of his personal experiences illustrates just one of the many trials by fire he went though during his career. He went to purchase copies of Moby Dick and Shakespeare’s Plays when he discovered he could get a 40% discount by shopping himself at a book wholesaler. He went and put 100 copies of each title in his shopping cart and went to heck out. The employee asked if he was a teacher and he answered yes. The clerk then told him he was only entitled to a 25% discount. John told him he was mistaken, that he was entitled to a 40% discount. The clerk replied, “If you don’t like it, take it up with your school board. They negotiated a 25% discount for teachers, Why would a school negotiate a price that was less than anyone else could get? You can probably figure out that a deal had been struck between the school and either the distributor or the publisher. Whatever the reason, you can be certain it involved some shadowy dealings. There are many more stories and historical facts that will make your head spin

I hope this short look into the mind of this exceptional educator will compel you to buy a copy of John’s book. It’s an invaluable well written story offering insights on the Alice in Wonderland education system you will find nowhere else. My two word review: Bravo John!

Editor’s Note: For the past few years, John and a director have been seeking funds to produce a documentary series, The Forth Purpose, to bring his visionary ideas to a mass audience. I spoke with John Gatto for an hour this morning and am going to be working with him to realize his vision for the film. I’ll keep you posted.

Peter Oldfield and I have been friends for many years. More than anyone I know, Peter defines a spiritually motivated man living a simple and elegant life. Peter has traveled the world as a tour guide, been an actor, art dealer, colorist, interior designer, entrepreneur, arts center host and is currently living at a beautiful retreat center in Hawaii.

World Memory Theatre is his brilliant and practical cultural gift to the world. I look forward to attending its opening in 2010. All that’s needed is a wise philanthropist or lover of the arts and/or culture to fund his magnificent vision.

By Peter Oldfield, Multicultural Visionary

It has been observed that one of the abiding characteristics displayed by people throughout history has been a steady curiosity to know ‘the others’ – the folk that live on the other side of the river, on the other side of the mountain, on the far side of the desert. How do they live? How are they different? How are they like us? We listen to and watch stories about them knowing that in them we may catch the essence, the pith of those ‘other’ folk.

In stories people everywhere ‘dress up’ their accumulated knowledge, their wisdom, both to entertain each other and as a valued legacy to pass on to future generations. In stories we find the common threads of our experience – the trials, the joys and the tragedies. Through their twists and turns, we tell each other what we think it is to be human.

Today, people of the world are connecting as never before, ushering in what was once unimaginable – the ‘global village’. At last we are beginning to understand how we can become truly cultured and world-related human beings.

In hearing other peoples’ stories, in seeing their art, listening to their music, and in recognizing the shared archetypes and the parallel mythologies, we can find within ourselves the common streams of relatedness that cover the whole breadth of human diversity

To enable the public to have this rich multicultural experience, the World Memory Theatre is being developed as a multimedia storytelling theater-in-the-round – featuring twelve rooms of interactive global folk art linked as a dodecagon under a single dome. Visitors can select any artifact from this meta-content learning environment to access the exhibit database, where parallel myths, woven through different folk cultures, are accompanied by music and imagery, narrated as cross-cultural stories that immerse the visitor in a chosen archetypal theme.
