Evolutionary Teleseminar Begins Thursday

Awakening the Impulse to Evolve–The Birth of Evolutionary Spirituality

This outstanding free teleseminar series begins Thursday and over the next three months, you’ll have a unique opportunity to engage with eighteen of today’s most inspired spiritual evolutionaries in a dynamic inquiry into what it means to consciously participate in the evolution of ourselves, our culture and our world.

Evolutionaries like Brian Swimme, Michael Beckwith, Jean Houston, Deepak Chopra, Barbara Marx Hubbard, Michael Dowd, Andrew Cohen, Peter Russell, Elisabet Sahtouris, Craig Hamilton, Duane Elgin, Connie Barlow, Claire Zammit, Ken Wilber and more.

Each week, we’ll gather online and by conference call to explore the burning questions facing all of us who aspire to live an authentic, evolutionary spiritual life in our increasingly chaotic, fast-paced world.

Among Questions to be explored:

* How does the insight that we are evolving creatures living in an evolving universe change our understanding of the spiritual path?

* How can we “evolutionize” our lives by awakening our minds and hearts to the evolutionary impulse at the heart of the Cosmos?

* What does it mean to live a life of passionate evolutionary engagement that integrates our deep longing for spiritual transformation and our desire to improve the world?

* How can we come together with other evolutionaries to begin to create microcosms of evolutionary culture?

* How can we engage our spiritual practice not just as a path to personal growth but as a contribution to the further evolution of humanity, life, and consciousness?

I hope you’ll join me on this exciting free series.

A Call to Conscious Evolution: Our Moment of Choice

I just signed the petition below and encourage you to. If you moved, please join me in letting others know about it. Together we can co-create a positive and sustainable future.

The human family is in the midst of the most significant transformation of consciousness since its emergence in Africa over one hundred thousand years ago. Consciousness has been evolving for billions of years from the first cell to us. We are becoming aware that through our own consciousness the universe can know itself. This awareness reveals incredible new potential for our individual and collective humanity.

Simultaneously, we are the first species on this Earth aware that we can destroy ourselves by our own action. This may be the greatest wake-up call to the evolution of consciousness since the origin of Homo sapiens sapiens.

We now realize that we are affecting our own evolution by everything we do. This knowledge awakens in us the aspiration to become more conscious through subjective practices including meditation, reflection, prayer, intuition, creativity, and conscious choice making that accelerate our evolution in the direction of unity consciousness and inspire us to deeply align our collective vision.

The Challenge
At this juncture in human history, urgent global crises challenge us to learn to live sustainably, in harmony and gratitude with one another and with the living universe. The changes required of humanity are broad, deep, and far reaching. Only by acting swiftly and creatively can we birth a planetary culture that will bring well-being to every form of life in the Earth community.

The good news is that a compelling new story of our potential as a whole human species is emerging – a story of collaboration, citizen action, dialogue and new understandings propelled by unprecedented levels of democratic freedom, multicultural exchange, and access to communication technologies. It is nothing less than the story of our collective evolution.

Opportunities for Action
We recognize that the inner and outer aspects of life evolve together. A dramatic awakening in consciousness will involve an equally dramatic shift in outward aspects of our lives. In particular, we see the following as vital opportunities for our conscious evolution, both personally and collectively:

•    Cultivating A Paradigm of Aliveness:  We regard the universe as deeply alive and conscious by nature.  In a living universe, our sense of subtle connection and participation with life around us is the basis for a compassionate and cooperative approach to living.

•    Educating for an Evolving Consciousness: Awakening consciousness is the foundation for all the change we seek to see in the world. We can work to elevate our capacity for conscious reflection and creative action in our personal lives as well as our collective lives as communities. We must support research and educational strategies that optimize human capacities and explore the nature of consciousness.

•    Restoring Ecological Balance: The balance of planetary ecosystems is fundamental to our survival. We must reverse the pollution of our global commons – the water, air and soil that nourish all life. We must encourage the proliferation of clean, renewable energy sources and expend all necessary resources toward mitigating the effects of climate change.

•    Encouraging Conscious Media: We must find innovative ways to use the new electronic media as the mirror of our positive evolutionary story, investing in their capacity to reach across differences of generation, culture, religion, wealth, and gender to build a working consensus about our collective future.

•    Engaging in Social and Political Transformation: More sustainable ways of living will require the support of a more conscious democracy and vibrant civil society from which more enlightened leaders will emerge.  All individuals should be encouraged to use their gifts to create participatory, responsible and compassionate models of governance.

•    Working for Integrity in Commerce:  Conscious businesses that are aware of the scope, depth, and long-range impacts of their actions are key to achieving sustainability. Business must become an ethical steward of the Earth’s ecology and consciously establish an economic basis for a future of equitably shared abundance.

•    Promoting Health and Healing: The science of mind-body-spirit health has demonstrated the profound connection between the health of a whole person and the health of the system in which s/he lives. Whole systems healing, respecting both traditional knowledge and modern sciences, must be supported in physical, social, and spiritual domains.

•    Building Global Community: The new story is about all of us who share this planet. Together, we can create a culture of peace that eliminates the need for armed conflict, respecting and appreciating the glorious diversity of our human family.

YOUR PARTICIPATION IS VITAL

Our group has done its best to articulate possibilities for the evolution of consciousness at this crucial moment in time. Please reflect on this document, feel what resonates in your being and calls forth a response on your part. We invite you to discuss it with others, continuing this global conversation by adding to it the wisdom that is uniquely your own.

The Emergence of Intentional Evolutionaries

The following excerpt from The Evolutionary Manifesto by John Stewart john.stewart@evolutionarymanifesto.com outlines what I suspect most of NPD’s subscribers believe they are here for. It’s good to receive positive feedback because for the most part, we are naturally marginalized by the gatekeepers of media and culture and sometimes have a sense of being isolated. But make no mistake, our time is at hand and by living into and quite literally becoming the field of possibility, we will have the greatest impact on the positive and sustainable future we envision and link with other like minded and spirited souls.

At present humanity is lost.  We don’t know what we are doing here.  We are without a worldview that can point to our place and purpose in the universe and that can also withstand rational scrutiny.

But this difficult period is coming to an end.  The emergence of the new evolutionary worldview is beginning to lift us out of the abyss.  The new worldview has a unique capacity to reveal who we are and what we should be doing with our lives.  It relies solely on scientific knowledge and reason to identify our critical role in future evolution.  The evolutionary worldview can unite us in a great common enterprise, and provide meaning and purpose for human existence.

As the transition begins, individuals are emerging who are choosing to dedicate their lives to advancing the evolutionary process.

These intentional evolutionaries recognize that they have a critical role to play in driving the evolutionary transition and the future evolution of life. Their lives can be an important part of the great evolutionary process that has produced the universe and life within it. They know that if evolution is to continue to fulfill its potential, it now must be driven deliberately, and it is their responsibility and destiny to contribute to this.

Their conscious participation in the evolutionary process is increasingly becoming the source of value and meaning in their lives. Redefining themselves within a wider evolutionary perspective is providing direction and purpose to their existence—they no longer see themselves as isolated, self-concerned individuals who live for a short time, then die irrelevantly in a meaningless universe.

Intentional evolutionaries are energized by the knowledge that their decision to embrace this role is part of the unfolding of the great transition itself. They see that they are contributing to the success of processes much larger than themselves that will outlast them and potentially live forever. They know that if they live their lives incompatibly with the processes that govern the evolution of life in the universe, their lives will not have any longer-term relevance. They will die without leaving a lasting trace.

For intentional evolutionaries at the leading edge of the transition, their commitment is a major act of existential self-assertion. It is not a choice that they are predisposed to make by their genetic make-up, nor by the society in which they were raised. It is a commitment that they can make only after developing some psychological distance from the goals and perspectives of their culture, and only after achieving a deep understanding of their relationship with the evolutionary process.

Intentional evolutionaries are aware that they have set themselves an extraordinarily challenging task, but know the transition cannot be completed unless sufficient individuals commit themselves to it. And if life on Earth does not make the transition, it will not participate in the future evolution of life in the universe. It will be a failed evolutionary experiment. Intentional evolutionaries know the deepest evolutionary meaning of the challenge: “If not now, when? And if not you, who?”

The allegiance of conscious evolutionaries is not to what is, but to what can be. They know that they are alive at one of those rare times in history when an old phase is ending, and a new one of infinite possibility is beginning. They have the courage and wisdom to seize their opportunity and to accept the challenge of the future.

Intentional evolutionaries know that have much in common with all others who consciously adopt evolutionary goals, including those that emerge elsewhere in the universe. Intentional evolutionaries experience a deep connection and kinship with all who awaken to the significance of evolutionary consciousness, even if they never have any direct contact with them. They are united because they know that despite many difference, they share common perspectives, worldviews, goals and conscious experiences. They are bound together as members of the circle of conscious life in the universe.

2012: Catalyst for Planetary Transformation

2012 Time for Change – Teaser from Joao Amorim on Vimeo.

2012: Time for Change is a feature-length documentary, directed by Joao Amorim of Curious Pictures in New York and featuring Daniel Pinchbeck, the bestselling author of “2012: The Return of Quetzalcoatl” (Penguin, 2006). In the style of “An Inconvenient Truth”, “What the Bleep Do We Know”, and “Waking Life”, our file explores ideas about what the immediate future may hold, symbolized by the myths and prophecies of the Mayan culture of Mexico. Interviews with design scientists, anthropologists, physicists such as Dean Radin, Barbara Max Hubbard, Nassim Haramein John Todd and Paul Stamets and celebrities such as David Lynch, Sting, Ellen Page and Gilberto Gil. 2012 combines Film and animation in an innovative way, taking us on a journey through our own evolution.. The energy of this trailer is one of optimism and healing which is exactly what the word needs a very large dose of right about now. Enjoy!

At least two more films are in production that use 2012 as the iconic year for transformation. (The Shift and Shift of the Ages on which we will soon do follow up stories. Of course, we cannot wait until 2012 but the energy, intelligence, creativity and wisdom inherent in these films is here now. We are witnessing the ultimate meltdown from an era of greed and corruption and they are the compost for a rich organic soil in which a new civilization is being birthed even as the old one is in the process of self destruction.

Part of humanity, those who voted for McCain and Palin (46% of US voters) are clinging to old ideas that have kept us prisoners in a dysfunctional and dangerous paradigm built on scarcity or scare city. The new paradigm represented by Obama is field of possibility that we have an opportunity to energize and actualize in the form of socially responsible and visionary products and services that place people and the planet first and make a profit by honoring and serving life rather thank destroying it. I believe hybrid for-profit and non-profits could be the way of the future along with local currencies.

In any event, 2012 is a powerful future-present vision of whats possible and we will be covering the production and release of more new paradigm films, novels, artworks, music, products and services and other creative expressions, whatever their form, in the weeks, months and years leading up to 2012. More than anything, it is the spirit and energy of 2012 that is pulling us toward a future that works for everyone rather than the few at the expense of the many.
