Borealis: Exquisite Light Art
Every once in a while an exceptional DVDÂ comes along that alters your perception of the world in a very positive and powerful way. Boreallis, is a haunting meeting of fluid light and atmospheric sound that takes the viewer on a journey through inner space. Sausalito, CA based light artist Lynn Augstein’s multidimensional immersive visual masterpiece is mesmerizing, soothing and healing in its effects. The DVD’s exquisite score by ambiant music artists Steve Roach, David Parsons and others was artfully mixed by producer Dwight Loop.
Augstein’s work has been featured in many live performances of Steve Roach, including concerts at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art for the opening of Yoko Ono’s “Yes” exhibition, “Mythic Imagination” conference in Palm Springs, California and installation pieces at SomArts Gallery, the Cell Space and San Francisco’s Hyatt Regency.
Included on the DVD is a ten minute interview with the artist exploring her light art, inspiration and artistic development, a preview of an upcoming release and ten minutes of footage from her installations and concert collaborations.
