Expanding Identities

From the Oneness Project

Who am I?

How you answer that question says a lot, not just about how you see yourself, but also about how you see others and how you relate to the world. And it’s an important question at this time in history when the challenges of our global community are drawing us out of limited identities based on “me” and “mine” into identities based on the “we” of the whole planet.

Identities help us find our way in the world, navigate challenges and make choices. They can be founded on anything from the color of our skin or religious orientation, to goals we have achieved or dreams we hold. Often during times of stress those boundaries can contract and tighten—we protect what is ours more rigorously and separate ourselves from the needs of others.

But times of struggle can also be motivation to expand our boundaries. Instead of contracting around our own needs, we can open to the needs of others, share resources, and choose to cooperate. As we do so, our identities shift and the separation between “me” and “you” or “us” and “them” seems less compelling and defining. But how can this happen? Where do we start?

A Poetic Look at Our Home

Universal Flag is Symbol of Our Oneness

Brian McClure began his inner journey over 30 years ago and heard a call to help others remember the oneness of life. In 2006, he launched and became Managing Director of Universal Flag Companies in Lisle, IL.

His company has distributed flags to thousands of individuals and organizations including author Wayne Dyer, Agape’s Michael Beckwith, singer-songwriter James Twyman, and Earthdance as well schools and churches around the world.

news-dr_wayne_dyer2.jpgThe Universal Flag’s website outlines five fundamental “Truths” shared by all humans: We are One With All, We are Divine Presence, We are Eternal, We are Truth and We are Interdependent on All. The site also features an explanation of the design elements. White stands for the purity from which we all come; the colors symbolizing vibrations of energy common to us all, the waves representing the ups and downs of life and the gold band that surrounds the colored waves reminding us to follow the Golden Rule.

This timely message is certainly part of new paradigm thinking and by displaying a Universal Flag, you or your organization can communicate your stand for oneness and universal brotherhood.

We cannot afford to continue seeing each other as us and them. That duality is responsible for more deaths and destruction than any other. The Universal Flag is an inclusive sign post that rather than representing any particular group, race, religion or nation, represents all life.

The amount of energy tied up in attempting to separate ourselves from others is enormous and when we understand, like Pogo, that the enemy is an extension of us and that the earth is part of us we will be far less inclined to hurt another or pollute and far more inclined to mediate and co-operate. Ending separation may be one of humanity’s most critical tasks if we are to sustain life on this planet. With the embodiment of our oneness, a powerful release of creative potential will occur and our present course may morph into a thrilling time of invention and healing unprecedented in human history.

Brian established the Universal Flag Foundation to increase global awareness through the spreading of universal Truth. He is creating a variety of programs and partnerships, to support and assist disadvantaged children and adults throughout the world. “As Mass Consciousness shifts and we align in harmony, these companies will become obsolete”, he says, “and what a great day that will be.”

Corporate logos dominate our world. Finally, we have a new paradigm symbol that celebrates humanities potential to co-create a positive and sustainable future. The Universal Flag also serves as a daily reminder that if one person is hungry or homeless, we all are.
